How LILIEN became LUXURY CZECH JEWELRY: The journey of designer Roman Matouš
My name is Roman Matouš, and I am the designer and founder of the brand LILIEN. The story of LILIEN began in 2000, inspired by the rich tradition of Czech costume jewelry and glass craftsmanship. From the very beginning, my vision was clear – to create luxury handmade rhinestone products that would bring the sparkle of Czech artistry to customers all around the world.
Over the years, our family company LILIEN Ltd. has grown, and today we proudly offer a wide range of rhinestone jewelry and decorations – from elegant necklaces and earrings to rhinestone Christmas and Easter ornaments, headbands, crowns, mandalas, and many other rhinestone home and holiday decorations.
Each piece is designed and crafted with care in the Czech Republic, continuing the legacy of traditional craftsmanship combined with modern design.
Every piece I design tells a story. For me, creating Czech rhinestone jewelry is more than a craft – it’s a way to bring beauty, tradition, and emotion into people’s lives. Every detail matters: each stone is carefully selected, and every design reflects my passion for handmade rhinestone jewelry and decorations.
Despite living with both visual and hearing impairments, I’ve never stopped seeing and feeling the beauty of life. My love for creation keeps me inspired, and in my free time, I compete in European and World Deaf Championships in table tennis and bowling – both of which fulfill me as deeply as my art.
A turning point in my career came in 2012, when I collaborated with the designers Meadham & Kirchhoff on a unique rhinestone collection presented at London Fashion Week 2013. One of my floral headpieces was later worn by Katy Perry at the Grammy Awards, bringing my brand LILIEN international recognition. This success led to features in renowned magazines such as Elle, Brides, and Vogue.
Since then, my luxury Czech rhinestone jewelry has been featured in leading galleries and designer stores around the world. Between 2005 and 2021, my creations were distributed under LILIEN-CZECH, s.r.o., before I decided to continue independently. In 2021, I founded Luxury Czech Jewelry, a brand that continues my vision of high-quality, handmade rhinestone jewelry and designer decorations, crafted with passion and precision.
In some markets, our products still appear under the LILIEN name, but every piece remains true to the same promise – authentic Czech craftsmanship, timeless elegance, and the unmistakable sparkle of rhinestones.
Although names and markets may change, one thing remains constant – my passion for creating beautiful, handmade rhinestone jewelry that people cherish and wear with pride.
